Secretary Wong Kam Sing visiting Tuen Mun District Council this morning

I will make the following points:-
1 Legco should defer the discussion of this topic until the govt has fully consulted TMDC;
2 the govt should justify the reason why the landfills should be expanded double the present size in Turn Mun;
3 what remedial measures would be offered to TM to compensate for the
sacrifice it takes in this matter and what the schedule for
implementation would be;
4 what is the ultimate time table for closure of the Tuen Mun landfill;
5 the govt should not take any action until seeing the report from the EAP of Legco;
6 the govt should extend her invitation to TMDC or otherwise to participate in the Europe facts finding mission in March;
7 a special wp should be set up between TMDC and the govt to focus the discussion of this matter.
The above is just the broad issues discussed but by no means to be an exhaustive list.
