Paul said ” We”ll make lands”

Paul attended the luncheon hosted by APHK this afternoon and he said SAR would make as much land as possible to satisfy local housing needs. I asked why don’t we develop Lantau properly instead of doing reclamation off Lantau? Why should the Environment Bureau waste over 340 hectares of land for expanding the landfills and in the other hand, the Development Bureau is trying hard but only able to find so few land for our housing needs ? Paul replied that the government would continue to consider this proposal. They also had inter departmental dialogue open for better communication amongst themselves! Does it mean they haven’t thought it through yet nor have they communicated enough?

今天局長來專協出席午餐會說，香港需要做地建屋，要滿足末來之需要，因此很努力地將市區政府設施用地更改成為居住用地，另外又要在大嶼山東填海發展新市鎮。我問為何不直接了當發展大嶼山避免填海？為何當發展局那麼辛苦地去找地建屋之際，而環境局又那麼浪費地拿去340 多公頃土地去做堆填區？他說政府會繼續研究，亦會加強部門的溝通的！言下之意，政府仍未考慮清楚，而政府部門間亦未傾清楚！
