目標

於荃灣西至屯門，沿青山公路興建一段約十五公里長以康樂用途為主的單車徑，名為黃金大道，並在合適位置興建各項輔助及康樂設施，其中包括單車租賃區、單車維修站、單車泊車處、公共洗手間、小食亭、急救站及綠化休憩區。

計劃路段

擬建之單車徑主要沿海岸線或青山公路而行, 連接荃灣麗城花園至屯門的三聖墟，途經油柑頭、汀九、深井、青龍頭、大欖涌及掃管笏。

對象

假設每單位居住人數為四人，現居於青山公路沿路居民估計有十萬六千六百八十人。再假設當中有一半人會騎單車，即有五萬三千三百四十人。

青山公路沿路住宅大廈林立，住有逾十萬市民。他們一直希望生活質素能夠得以提升及樓價得以提高。添置單車徑及其他康樂設施正正可以改善他們住所附近環境，從而滿足他們的要求。

而且，他們當中大部份為中產人士，工作繁重，生活節奏急促。假若在住所附近有一條安全又方便的單車徑，他們既可於工餘時間做運動減壓，同時亦可與家人共渡天倫。藉著騎踏單車這項運動，更可使家人團結，為家庭帶來凝聚力。

於青山公路兩旁不時會看到公路單車騎者與在旁飛馳疾駛的車輛靠著而行。對他們來說，安全固然重要，但他們並沒有選擇。黃金大道可為單車騎者提供一條專屬單車通行的道路，大大減低車輛與單車騎者之間的相撞意外。

除沿路居民之外，現時熱愛單車運動以及其用品的市民日益增長。有些人甚至會花費大量金錢購買每台高達港幣2萬元的戰車，由此可見這項運動越受歡迎。

騎單車一向是受歡迎的運動之一。黃金大道不但可為市民提供大圍至大埔單車路段以外的另一選擇，更可於假日舒緩擠塞。

好處

健康

騎單車是一個讓市民做運動及保持身心健康的好方法，持之以恆更可鍛鍊肌肉和骨骼及控制體重。此外，騎單車更可調劑心靈、舒緩壓力和建立自信心。

和諧社會

要達到和諧社會的最終目標，我們必須保持健康的體魄，然後和諧家庭，再繼而和諧整個地段和社區。

騎單車不但可使人身體健康，同時亦提供一個與家人及朋友共聚的歡樂時光，藉著騎單車遊覽香港的大自然景色，豐富家庭及社交生活。黃金大道能為市民提供安全的單車徑，好讓市民安心騎單車橫跨新界數個區域，從而達到共諧。

此外，踏單車不會構成環境污染，十分環保，屬零碳排放量的運動，更可取代汽車作短途的交通工具。

此黃金大道由荃灣至屯門連接數個區域，不但提供一個讓市民做運動及遊覽香港的方法，同時可為沿路景點及商店帶動人流，例如鮮為人知的九咪半泳灘，其實也是很值得遊覽的地方。與此同時亦能使住宅屋苑附近的環境得以改善，有助提升整個地段及區域的價值，從而希望可達到最終和諧社會的目標。

復興旅遊業

騎單車遊覽沿途風光實屬欣賞香港大自然景色的最佳之選。黃金大道沿途有很多景點，有些更鮮為人知。在單車徑的左面，你可觀賞令人嘆為觀止的海岸線，宏偉的大橋以及發達的航海交通。在右面，你可觀賞迷人的山景及探訪古老村落，同時呼吸著香港罕有的新鮮空氣。

刺激本土消費及經濟增長

麗城花園

麗城花園是荃灣區內的一個大型屋苑，內裡林立形形色色的商店與食肆以滿足不同客人的需求。屋苑內設有超級市場、街市、便利店、茶樓、餐廳及運動場。騎單車者不論以此作為旅途的出發點或終點站，他們均可輕易在此找到合適的物資為他們補充體力。

九咪半泳灘

此乃游泳熱點。從這裡可遠眺青衣船塢。

汀九

汀九位於香港新界西油柑頭與深井之間，亦是汀九村之所在地。汀九對上的山頭建有著名的汀九橋，橫跨藍巴勒海峽連接汀九和青衣。青山公路汀九段沿線有不少海灘，包括雙仙灣泳灘、海美灣泳灘、更生灣泳灘、麗都灣泳灘、汀九灣泳灘及近水灣泳灘。可是，這個優美的地方卻經常被人遺忘，而大橋的建築美亦常被忽略。

此外，最特別的是在摩登且呈流線形的汀九橋下建有一所酒店，形成一個獨特的畫面。。相信在酒店附近興建基建設施能為酒店帶來人流及商機，從而有助振興本土經濟。

深井

深井位於荃灣的西北部，座落汀九與青龍頭之間，以深井村為中心。

一踏進深井就會看到屹立多年的嘉頓麵包廠及一行一行整齊排列、印有熟悉的嘉頓商標的貨車。每天，這裡製造出數以千排的麵包供給廣大市民，可以說是無數港人的集體回憶。

這裡亦是欣賞青馬大橋的最佳位置之一。在夜空中以亮著的大橋為襯托，也可使這裡成為求婚熱點。

青馬大橋雖然龐大，但呈流線形，擁有難以形容的美態。它的架構堅固，但又十分靈活，軟硬兼備。它不但可制衡共振，也可吸收震盪。多年來它經歷風吹雨打，運載無數車輛橫跨大橋，但仍屹立不倒。晚上大橋上的紫紅色燈泡亮起後，它的艷麗令人讚嘆不已。

上一次在青馬大橋上空綻放煙火為一九九七年四月二十七日。現提議每十五或二十年便在青馬大橋上空綻放煙火，為大眾增添新鮮感，並希望能藉此帶動旅遊業，在各人心中留下深刻印象。

除地標青馬大橋外，深井出產的燒鴨及燒鵝，也在香港相當馳名。多間不同種類的食肆也在此設店，有來自各國的美食進駐，包括中、西、意、印度等地的菜式，所以深井有美食中心之稱。

雖然屯門公路現進行擴展及改善工程，但在不久的將來便會完成。那時，深井可說是一個摩登建築充分融入民居的典範，亦是香港獨特之處。可是它的價值同樣地常被忽略，政府實在應該投放資源推廣這個地方，使更多人得以認識。

青龍頭

青龍頭位於香港新界西荃灣鄉郊，位置為深井與小欖之間。這裡人口密度較低，有一條汲水門大橋。此橋曾是全球最長的行車鐵路兩用斜拉式橋樑。青龍頭兩旁建有不少村落，市民途經時可拜訪及體驗村民生活。

此外，青龍頭後方，深井以西北方向的大欖郊野公園更是一個郊遊遠足的好地方。沿馬灣海峽及藍巴勒海峽亦有不少泳灘，當中釣魚灣泳灘更是釣魚勝地。

小欖及大欖

這裡設有不少政府機構，包括水警西分區基地、香港天文台雷達站、海關訓練學校、海事訓練學院、小欖精神病治療中心、小欖醫院、懲教署宿舍及大欖涌水塘，單車騎者不妨停下參觀。

於大欖隧道轉車站，不但可見到接駁到不同地區的巴士，更可看到退役巴士型號停泊在這裡。

掃管笏

掃管笏是屯門區東南部的一個地方，其內有掃管笏村、掃管笏新村、老青山村、小秀村和稔灣村等鄉村，以及掃管灘及前掃管軍營。

香港黃金海岸

香港黃金海岸為屯門區一個旅遊景點，位於掃管笏青山公路1號，除可坐擁遼闊的海景，還可遠眺位於赤鱲角的香港國際機場，亦設有大型酒店、會議中心、購物廣場、遊艇會、海濱長廊、黃金沙灘、海豚廣場及多個食肆。

黃金泳灘是屯門區內最大的海灘，亦是本港首個全人工沙灘。泳灘內設有屯門區唯一的沙灘排球場。在沙灘旁的480米海濱長廊兩側種滿熱帶樹木如棕櫚樹，讓人有置身渡假村的感覺。

黃金蒙馬特是香港首個街頭文化藝術廣場，於1995年設立。生趣洋溢的藝術街道媲美巴黎的蒙馬特，各式各樣的攤位及展品，如卡通肖像和彩沙製作等等，琳琅滿目，盡情展示西方藝術及精緻工藝品。逢星期日下午，一些專業或業餘表演者可於演藝坊表演西方民謠、樂隊演唱、樂器演奏及其他才藝。

咖啡灣

現分為舊咖啡灣及新咖啡灣。泳灘設有快餐亭、燒烤區及泳屋等設施。

青山灣及三聖墟

青山灣是位於屯門區的海灣。青山灣地理位置優越，以前是漁港，曾有大量漁船停泊。現設有數個燒烤場、兒童遊樂場及快餐亭。

三聖墟是香港屯門的小漁村，南臨青山灣，北望大欖郊野公園，是香港著名海鮮市場之一。三聖墟鄰近有三聖廟，是其中一個旅遊熱點。騎單車者可在黃金海岸渡過一個優閑的下午，然後在三聖墟的海鮮酒家享用海鮮大餐作為旅途完美的完結。

我們需要與不同機構聯絡，希望政府能夠興建這條「黃金大道」，並組織不同工作人員。

Apart from the residents living along the proposed track, there is also an increasing population for this type of sports, particularly the parvenu and the new-rich. They would spend handsomely in purchasing the so-called “warrior bikes” which cost over HK$20,000 each.

Cycling has always been a popular sports and this cycle track can serve as an alternative to the cycle track from Tai Wai to Tai Po and help easing the traffic during holidays.

Advantages

Health

Cycling is one of the greatest methods of exercise and it helps people to keep healthy and to stay fit both physically and mentally. Regular cycling provides better muscle tone and bone mass improvement and helps with personal weight management. Apart from that, cycling is indeed therapeutic for the mind and spirit as well. It helps reduce stress and possibly builds up one’s self-esteem.

Harmonization

In order to achieve the ultimate goal of harmonizing the society, one must go step-by-step by first living a healthy life, then harmonizing the family, the residential facility and the district.

Besides helping people to live a healthier life, cycling creates hours of fun among families and friends while exploring the beautiful natural landscapes of Hong Kong and hence enriching our family and social life. However, road safety is a big concern that is of utmost importance to many. Therefore by offering “the Golden Route”, it could address the above concern by providing a safe passage for cyclists to travel across the New Territories and hence help achieving the goal of harmonization.

Apart from the health benefits and enjoyment of cycling in Hong Kong, cycling is also extremely environmentally friendly as it does not pollute, thus keeping the air clean. It is a carbon-free exercise as well as a means of transportation for short distance travelling.

On the other hand, it could also harmonize the residential facility by bringing up the value through improving the surrounding environment. “The Golden Route” links up several districts extending from Tsuen Wan to Tuen Mun and can thereby increase the flow of people along the track. It can lead people to less familiar places that are equally worth visiting as many other famous scenic spots. It is hoped that the synergy effect would bring ultimate harmonization to the society as a whole.

Revival / Renaissance of local tourism

Cycling is also an excellent way to enjoy Hong Kong’s natural beauty by riding through scenic landscapes. Along “the Golden Route”, there are plenty of scenic spots and some of them are not well-known. On the left of the route, there are breath-taking views of a beautiful seashore line, architectural bridges and vibrant sea traffic. There are aircrafts flying above and large container ships sailing across the harbour. On the right, you can enjoy the gorgeous hillside landscapes and visit some long-established rural villages whilst being immersed in the fresh air which is often absent in Hong Kong.

Local consumerism and economy can be boomed

Belvedere Garden 

It is one of the largest residential facilities in Tsuen Wan. There is a shopping mall and a wide variety of stalls and restaurants that satisfy demands of different consumers. Supermarkets, wet market, convenience stores, restaurants and sports grounds can be found there. It is an excellent starting point or finishing point where cyclists can fully refresh themselves.

9.5 Milestone

It is a famous swimming spot and one can oversee the Tsing Yi shipping dock from there.

Ting Kau

Ting Kau is situated at the New Territories West, lying between Yau Kom Tau and Sham Tseng and it is the place where Ting Kau Village is situated.

Ting Kau is famous for its Ting Kau Bridge, spanning the Rambler Channel from Ting Kau to Tsing Yi Island and over troubled waters. There are a lot of beaches around that area, for example, Gemini Beaches, Hoi Mei Wan Beach, Casam Beach, Lido Beach, Ting Kau Beach and Approach Beach. However, this wonderful place is always being forgotten and people hardly realise the architectural beauty of the bridge.

More interesting about this place is that there is a hotel, the Royal View Hotel, situated under the streamlined and modern Ting Kau Bridge and forms a both unique and peculiar picture.

Furthermore, it is believed that better infrastructure and growing popularity of the area will definitely bring more business to the hotel and hence boost local economy.

Sham Tseng

Sham Tseng is a coastal area in Tsuen Wan District between Ting Kau and Tsing Lung Tau, having Sham Tseng Village at its centre.

Once you enter Sham Tseng, you can find the long-established Garden Factory where lorries printed with the familiar Garden logo are lined up and where thousands loaves of bread are produced every day. This place is regarded as a collective memory of many Hong Kong people.

On top of that, it is one of the greatest places to enjoy the spectacular view of the Tsing Ma Bridge. It may also be one of the best spots for making proposals to your beloved with the romantic lighted bridge as background.

The Tsing Ma Bridge, gigantic in its size but streamlined in its shape, possesses an undefined beauty of its own. It comprises both rigidity and flexibility and couples hardness with softness. Not only can it accommodate resonance, it can also absorb vibrations. It has overcome bad weathers throughout the years and has carried endless streams of vehicles across the bridge every day but it still stands as firmly as it is. At night, it is lighted in purple and pink and its gorgeousness has amazed millions of people locally and globally.

The previous firework display above Tsing Ma Bridge was on 27th April 1997. It is suggested that a firework display shall be mounted above Tsing Ma Bridge every 15 or 20 years to add excitement to this place, to boost tourism and to leave an unforgettable impression to everyone in the world.

Sham Tseng has attracted lots of tourists and local citizens not only for its landmark Tsing Ma Bridge, it is also famous for its roast duck and roast goose. In addition, there are different kinds of restaurants offering Chinese, Western, Italian or Indian cuisines and it has therefore earned the name of “Food Centre”.

Although the Tuen Mun Road is now under extension and upgrading road work, it will restore after some time. Coupled with the Tuen Mun Road flyover at the back of Sham Tseng, Sham Tseng is a place where modern constructions are fully integrated into human habitat and this can only be found in Hong Kong. However, its uniqueness and value has been overlooked and the government should put in effort to popularize this amazing place and let more people know about it.

Tsing Lung Tau

It is located on the southwest coast of the New Territories in Hong Kong, between Sham Tseng and Siu Nam. It is a scarcely populated area. There is an equally attractive bridge, Kap Shui Mun Bridge within the area. It is one of the longest cable-stayed bridges in the world that transports both road and railway traffic. Besides, there are several rural villages located along the road and you can pay a visit and experience the lifestyle of indigenous villagers.

The Tai Lam Country Park, lying at the back of Tsing Lung Tau, is a large country park located northwest of Sham Tseng. It is a perfect place for family picnic or hiking..

Siu Lam and Tai Lam

There are numerous government institutions in this area that cyclists may pay a visit during their ride. They include Marine Police West Police Station, Hong Kong Observatory Radar Station, Hong Kong Customs and Excise Training School, Vocational Maritime Service Training Institute, Siu Lam Psychiatric Centre, Siu Lam Hospital, Siu Lam Correctional Service Staff Quarters and Tai Lam Chung Reservoir.

At Tai Lam Tunnel Interchange which is still in operation now, you can not only see buses which take you to different districts, you can also find a retired KMB bus with rare model Leyland Victory MK2 that is definitely worth visiting.

So Kwun Wat

So Kwun Wat is an area on the south-east coast of Tuen Mun. There are numerous villages which include So Kwun Fat Tsuen, So Kwun Fat San Tsuen, Lo Tsing Shan Tsuen, Siu Sau Tsuen and Nim Wan Village. It also includes So Kwun Tan and former Perowne Camp. It has now developed into a middle class settlement.

Hong Kong Gold Coast

Hong Kong Gold Coast is the largest tourist resort in Tuen Mun near to So Kwun Wat. You can enjoy a spectacular view of the seashore and the Hong Kong International Airport from there. Its facilities include the Hong Kong Gold Coast Hotel, a convention centre, a shopping mall called Gold Coast Piazza, a marina club, the Waterfront Promenade, the Golden Beach, the Hong Kong Gold Coast Dolphin Square and plenty of restaurants.

The Golden Beach is the largest public beach in Tuen Mun and the first artificial beach in Hong Kong. It has a beach volleyball court, which is the only one within Tuen Mun District. Tropical trees, like coconut trees, and flowers of various species are planted on both sides of a 480-metre long promenade running parallel to it that makes people immersed in the strong atmosphere of a holiday resort
Opened since July 1995, the Gold Coast Montmartre is the first arena of its kind in Hong Kong for street art and culture and is comparable to the Montmartre in Paris. The Art Promenade showcases amateur artists presenting artworks and handicrafts such as monochrome drawing, cartoon figure drawing, ornament design, ceramics, rice art, model making, stained sand, colour dyeing, etc. Performances like Western verse recital, live bands and classical music are put on at the Cultural Square every Sunday afternoon, which provides an open stage for both the professionals and the amateurs.

Cafeteria Beach

It is now divided into Cafeteria Old Beach and Cafeteria New Beach. You can find food kiosks and barbeque sites.

Castle Peak Bay and Sam Shing

Castle Peak Bay is a bay outside Tuen Mun. In the past, large amount of Tanka fishermen harboured at the bay. There are now several barbecue sites, children playing ground and fast food kiosks in the area.

Sam Shing, which was named after three saints, is a little fishing village in Tuen Mun. There is Sam Shing Temple that faces Castle Peak Bay and is one of the famous tourist spots. This place is famous for its fresh seafood and is one of the biggest seafood market in Hong Kong. Cyclists may spend their afternoon at the lovely and relaxing Gold Coast and put a perfect end to the day by having dinner at one of the seafood restaurants here.

Operation

It is necessary to lobby for support for mobilizing the government and advise the operation of crew.

A singing campaign may be a good start of exercise.
