關於香港馬會取消跑馬地2019年9月18日之夜間賽事新聞稿

今早大約在9:13何偉誠先生（天祿合夥馬主其中一位）收到馬會賽事部鄭奇龍先生的來電。鄭奇龍先生告知何先生香港馬會管理階層對今晚在快活谷舉行的賽事表示擔心和顧慮。當時我正坐在何偉誠先生旁邊，之後與鄭奇龍先生繼續進行談話。在7-8分鐘總時間的談話中，鄭奇龍先生從沒有要求天祿退出比賽或作出任何暗示倘若我們堅持繼續參加比賽，今晚整個賽事將會取消。

今午一時左右，何偉誠先生和我本人從朋友中得知香港馬會已宣佈取消今晚整個夜馬賽事。這個宣布不單止令我倆感到驚訝，相信全香港馬迷、市民和全世界的賽馬圈子也同樣感到驚訝。很多人對是次終止夜間賽事的決定表示遺憾。更憂慮對香港賽馬,香港作為國際大都會及香港在賽馬世界之領導地位帶來負面影響。我本人認同這些擔憂。

Re : Cancellation of Happy Valley Race Meeting on 18th September 2019

This morning at around 9:13 am, Mr. Wilson Ho (one of the three partners in owning Hong Kong Bet) received a call from Mr. K L Cheng of Hong Kong Jockey Club. The message passed from Mr. K L Cheng was that the management of Hong Kong Jockey Club was worried and concerned about the risks encountered by Hong Kong Jockey Club in running the Happy Valley race meeting tonight. I was sitting next to Mr. Wilson Ho and was also informed of the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s worries in the second part of the telephone conversation which lasted for about 7 to 8 minutes. In the telephone conversation Mr. K L Cheng had neither asked us to withdraw Hong Kong Bet from the race tonight nor given any hints that the night meeting might be cancelled in the event that Hong Kong Bet’s insistence to run in Race 1 as scheduled.

Shortly after 1 pm, both Mr. Wilson Ho and myself were informed by our friends that the race meeting tonight had been announced by Hong Kong Jockey Club to be cancelled. Same as all Hong Kong racing fans, residents and the world-wide racing circles, we were astonished by such announcement. Indeed, a lot of people are deeply regretted about such decision being taken and are worried about the negative impact that may bring to Hong Kong Racing and Hong Kong as an international city as well as a leader in the horse racing world. I fully endorse these worries.
