The mixed doubles final between Asia Pacific and Americas Teams started gently at the first 5 mins, then accelerated with the serving speed of 105kph by J McEnroe. By 11:32am, the scores stretched and narrowed up by games of 2:4 with the Americas Team taking the lead. The Asia Pacific(Zhang Ling/ Mark Philipoussis) was chasing up. By 11:46, the Americas Team (J McEnro and Venus Williams) was leading by 6 to 2 games. I was happy to view the live match at the tennis court. Thank you Dr. Eugene Chan for the invitation.

In the afternoon, it began with the men’s single between Team Europe(Edberg) and Team Russia(Kafelnikov. The former body shape and condition certainly looked better than the latter. Kafe carried a visible tummy probably due to drinking too much beer or vodka. After 40min match, Kafe was slightly behind. The first match was lost to Edberg with 6:4 games.

It was magnificently played by both teams in the 3rd game in the second set. Kafe saved the ball by running a long distance and he hit it from behind through his legs. Edberg congratulated him for his stunning performance. After this highlight, Edberg regained the following point by marginally hitting his ball through which touched and rolled over to the other side of the net. Edberg kissed the net to express his gratitude! At 3:14pm, Edberg won the match by taking the second set at 6:0.

At 3:30pm, the women’s single between Wozniacki(Europe) and Zvonareva began. The women were top notch. The game was played well before I left at 3:36pm for another important meeting i.e. to meet my wife. The final score was 0:2 sets in favour of the Russian.
